Islamabad: Pakistan’s intelligence agency has launched an investigation into Imran Khan, who lost his post as prime minister in a no – confidence vote. An inquiry has been launched into a case in which a necklace worth Rs 18 crore received as a gift during his tenure as Prime Minister was sold to a jeweler instead of being handed over to the government.

According to the rules, such expensive gifts received by the rulers should be handed over to the government’s gift collection, Thesha-Khana. However, the Express Tribune reports that the necklace was handed over to Imran Khan’s special assistant Zulfikar Buhari, who sold it to a jeweler in Lahore for Rs 18 crore.

The Federal Investigation Agency has announced an investigation into the matter. The gifts they give us are so much more than biological. But the report also points out that Imran Khan was not willing to pay half of this amount.

Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections on March 8, citing corruption, financial mismanagement and irresponsible foreign policy. The major parties in the ruling party also supported it. With this the majority of the government was lost. In 2018, Imran Khan became the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
