by time news

Potentially violent thunderstorms are expected in an entire eastern part of France on Sunday October 23, according to Météo-France. In a bulletin published Sunday at 6 a.m., the organization placed 18 departments on orange alert for the risk of thunderstorms.

From the Massif Central to the Jura, Alsace and Lorraine, mobile thunderstorms are expected during the afternoon and evening, with the risk of violent gusts that can exceed 100 km/h, heavy rain and hail.

According to Météo-France, storm cells will develop from the afternoon in the departments in orange vigilance, initially in the westernmost departments.

Stay away from trees and waterways

If the location and the precise time at which these stormy episodes will take place remain uncertain, they could only concern “restricted geographic areas”. “It is likely that in many places put on orange alert, the risk of thunderstorms will not materialize”, completes the bulletin, which provides for a lifting of vigilance overnight from Sunday to Monday. The meteorological organization also reports that for the 51 departments in yellow storm vigilance, the risk is not excluded but lower.

In the event of a storm, it is particularly advisable to stay away from trees and waterways, to take shelter in a building and to avoid using any electronic device directly connected to a socket.
