On the occasion of the upcoming celebration of Easter, a total of 1,870 inspections of compliance with fire safety rules and regulations were carried out on the territory of the country, reported the General Directorate of Fire Safety and Protection of the Population (GDPBZN).

The majority of inspections – 1,473 – were of Orthodox churches, and 397 inspections were carried out at hotels, lodges and others. The aim is to avoid the occurrence of accidents, given the mass gathering of people and the use of open fire.

The fire department also reports that 92 employees will be on duty at places with a significant number of visitors. The readiness of the teams on duty to carry out effective fire-fighting and rescue operations is ensured. 32 fire trucks, 1 special vehicle and 1 ambulance with teams are on duty near churches, monasteries and other Orthodox temples.

Citizens are urged to be vigilant when lighting candles in temples and homes. Lighted candles create a significant risk of fire, and they should only be placed in non-flammable and wind-protected containers specially adapted for this purpose, adds the fire department.

BTA recalls that two people were injured in fires in the last 24 hours. Firefighters have responded to 60 reports of accidents in the last 24 hours, a total of 36 fires have been extinguished.
