Kyiv: Ukrainian authorities said 19 people, including two children, were killed in a Russian missile attack on a high-rise residential complex in the Ukrainian port city of Odessa. 38 people, including six children and a pregnant woman, were admitted to the hospital with injuries. Most of the dead were residents of the apartment.
The missile hit a nine-story building in Serhivka village at around 1 am local time yesterday. The residential complex and nearby buildings caught fire as several missiles hit one after the other. Many people, including women and children, were injured.
Many people are trapped under the debris of the building. Odessa authorities said that the rescue operation is in progress.
Meanwhile, another missile hit a resort in the area, killing three people, including a child, and injuring one.
Over the past two weeks, Russia has launched several missile attacks on Ukraine.
On Monday, 18 people were killed in an attack on a shopping center in the central city of Kremenchuk. Ukrainian military officials have accused Russia of using Soviet-era ballistic missiles in the attacks.
However, Russia reiterated that civilians were not targeted. Russia has denied Ukraine’s allegations.

Germany condemned the attack.

More than 4,700 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion began on February 24, according to the U.N. There are about 350 children in this.
The attack in Odesa came a day after Russia said on Thursday it would withdraw its troops from Snake Island, a strategic Black Sea island seized by Russia in the early stages of the offensive.

Russia has broken its promise not to attack civilians. The Russian army is killing the people of Ukraine.
