Sam Mendes’ film “1917” premieres tonight on Rai2 at 21.20. The film starring George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman, set during the First World War, tells the story of two British soldiers who are the protagonists of an impossible mission: to infiltrate behind enemy lines and reach 1,600 fellow soldiers to prevent them from falling into a trap. The film garnered 10 Academy Award nominations and rave reviews from critics. It was also a success at the box office: costing 100 million dollars, it has already collected 256.
