jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Yogyakarta-based music group, Dubyouth, is entering its 19th year this year.
In celebration of this special moment, the duo Heruwa and Metzdub will re-release one of Dubyouth Soundsystem’s important albums on vinyl.
Dubyouth Soundsystem was formed by Heruwa Shaggydog Poppa T as MC and Metzdub as DJ in the city of Yogyakarta in 2003.
In 2012, Dubyouth released a self-titled album containing 9 songs with various forms of electronic music, such as jungle, drum’n bass, electro, drumstep, hiphop and others.
The duo did not forget to add traditional touches, such as the Reog Ponorogo flute that can be heard in the song Whisky & Wine.
The album distributed by Demajors also includes Bomb Da Town, released independently in 2005, which successfully topped the leading indie radio charts in Indonesia and was downloaded massively on its initial release.
Dubyouth also invited several rappers to collaborate, such as Yacko & Nova in the song Boys Don’t Mess, and the Jogja Hiphop Fondation rap group in the Javanese-language song Bombassu.
The opening song Heavyweight Champion Sound Intro is accompanied by a series of pumping songs such as Love 2 CU Dance, Dancehall King, Loco and closed with Millenium Rude Boys.
