Similar to IPL, TNPL tournaments are held every year to promote local cricket in Tamil Nadu. The tournament is popular in Tamil Nadu where international players and local players play together. The management of TNBL has announced about the auction for the selection of players for the next year’s TNPL tournament. Accordingly, it has been reported that the auction for sportspersons is going to be held on the 23rd and 24th in Mahabalipuram, Chengalpattu district. And the remarkable feature is that for the first time in the TNPL, the players will be selected through an auction.
Already the TNPL governing body, each owner can retain 2 players in which one player is from A or B division and another player is from C or D division.
And the total bid for each team is fixed at Rs.70 lakh. In this category A player Rs. 10 lakhs, B category player Rs. 6 lakhs, C category player Rs. 3 lakh and for a D division player Rs. 1.50 lakh has been fixed as the base amount.
This includes Category A player – who has played international matches, Category B player – Players who have represented BCCI domestic competitions, Category C player – Player who is not featured in Category A and B and has played more than at least 30 TNP matches, Category D player – Other players. The deadline for retention ended on January 30.

1) Chepak Super Gillies – Jagatheesan (Category B), Sasidev (Category C) – Rs.61 lakh
2) Nellai Royal Kings – Ajits (Division B), Karthik Manikandan (Division D) – Rs.62.50 lakh
3) Ideerim Tirupur Tamilans – Tushar Raheja (Division D) – Rs.68.50 Lakhs
4) Lyca Super Kings – Shah Rukh Khan (Category B), Suresh Kumar (Category D) – Rs.62.50 lakh
5) Dindigul Dragons – Ravichandran Ashwin (Division A) – Rs.60 lakh
6) Ruby Trichy Warriors – Anthony Das (Division B) – Rs.64 Lakhs
7) Salem Spartans – Ganesh Murthy (Division C) – Rs.67 lakh
8.) Madurai Panthers – Gautam (Division D) – Rs.68.50 Lakhs
