2 months extension of date for submission of outsourcing bid of Islamabad Airport

(Anwar Abbas) The steering committee has fixed July 15 as the final date for submission of bids for the outsourcing project of Islamabad Airport after an extension of 2 months.

The 11th meeting of the Steering Committee on Outsourcing of Airports was held today. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister, Petroleum Minister and Aviation Secretary, Law Secretary, BOI Secretary and IF Country Director. C also participated, Secretary Aviation briefed the members of the committee in the meeting.

Many airport operators, including Europe, have taken interest in the Islamabad Airport outsourcing project, some of these operators have formed consortiums with local investors, these consortiums are working carefully on legal and financial issues, in this regard, the consortium Teams of recently visited Islamabad Airport.

The final date for submission of bids is set for July 15. In view of the complexity of the project, 4 potential bidders have requested an extension of the bid submission date, such extension will allow for greater competition, thus A better price could be received for the project, IFC, the project’s transaction adviser, supported the proposal.

According to the IFC, the Steering Committee has allowed an extension of 2 months in the date of submission of bids. Cooperative due diligence will enable early completion of the work, thus ensuring maximum participation in the bidding process, closely monitoring the process to ensure that no further extension is required.
