CHENNAI: ISRO said that while the SSLV type small rocket was carrying two satellites which was launched from Sri Harikota yesterday morning, both the satellites malfunctioned. India launched its first ever SSLVT type small rocket with 2 satellites from Sri Harikota yesterday at 9.18 am. In this, Earth observation satellite called EOS02 and satellite called Azadisat were sent. The Azadisat satellite was jointly developed by 750 female students from 75 government schools across the country.

ISRO launched SSLVT1 rocket with these 2 satellites yesterday. During the mission of separating the satellites from the rocket, the signal from the satellites was not received. This was attributed to a loss of communication and control at the last stage. ISRO scientists struggled for a long time to find out the reason for the lack of signal. However, their efforts did not bear fruit. ISRO has officially announced that the SSLV T1 rocket project has failed.

This rocket placed the satellites in an elliptical orbit of 356 km x 76 km instead of a circular orbit of 356 km. Those satellites can no longer be used. Failure is due to sensor failure. A sensor failure was detected and an attempt to recover the satellites failed. A committee will be formed for this and the failure will be scrutinized. ISRO said that SSLV T2 rocket will be developed soon.
