Police in Serbia continue to search for the body of the murdered two-year-old girl, Danka Ilic, and the two suspects remain in custody, local media reported. One suspect in the child’s murder has admitted to strangling him.

Danka was declared wanted on March 26 after she disappeared in Bansko Pole, near the eastern Serbian town of Bor.

Two people were arrested this week on suspicion of killing the little girl.

The Belgrade edition “Blitz” writes today that one of the suspects admitted last night during an interrogation at the prosecutor’s office in Zaičar that he strangled Danka. He also said that his father and brother helped him hide the body. They were detained today.

The other suspect used his right to remain silent, writes “Blitz”.

The two suspects admitted after their arrest that they had committed the murder, but did not indicate the place where the body of the girl was hidden, and it is still not clear how exactly the child was killed, notes Blitz, quoted by BTA.

Police said earlier this week that Danka died after being hit by a car and that the body was thrown into a landfill by the occupants of the car after the impact.

Early today, at the suggestion of the prosecution, a judge ordered the two suspects to remain in custody for 30 days.

Police searched another dump today and the yard of one of the suspects.

People from Bor and Bansko Pole bring flowers, light candles and express their condolences to the Ilić family, notes the Serbian editorial staff of TV En1.
