A Manchester toddler has captivated the world by becoming the youngest person to achieve two Guinness World Records in snooker, demonstrating a remarkable talent for the sport at an astonishingly young age. Jude Owens, just two years and 302 days old on October 12,2023,successfully executed a challenging pool bank shot, following a snooker double pot completed five weeks prior at two years and 261 days old.
A Natural at the Table
Jude’s exceptional journey began at home, where snooker quickly became his favorite pastime. His father, Luke Owens, first recognized his son’s innate ability. “I think I realised once he put the cue through his fingers and it was dead natural the way he did it,” he said. To accommodate Jude’s height, the family initially used bar stools, later transitioning to a repurposed cooking stool.
This early exposure sparked a passion and a skill that would soon be recognized on a global stage.Jude’s achievements officially make him the youngest individual ever to perform both trick shots, and one of the youngest double record holders in the history of the Guinness World Records.
Recognition and Future Prospects
The Guinness World Records authority has acknowledged Jude’s exceptional talent with a special walk-out entrance planned for the 2025 UK Championship. He has also become the youngest-known person to secure a sponsorship within the sport.
“I started playing when I was 10 and obviously Jude started playing when he was two,” Owens explained. “But I’d say Jude’s got a lot more natural ability than myself.” When asked about a potential match against his father, Jude confidently declared, “Me,” indicating a competitive spirit alongside his prodigious skill.
A Rising Star
Beyond his snooker prowess, Jude is described as a devoted fan of Manchester United and particularly “obsessed” with player Bruno Fernandes. This passion for the game extends beyond the table, showcasing a well-rounded enthusiasm.
Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, emphasized the importance of Jude’s accomplishments. “Record-breaking has always belonged to everyone – regardless of age,” Glenday stated. “To see someone as young as Jude display such skill, enthusiasm and determination is incredibly special. We’re thrilled to welcome him into the Guinness World Records family.”
Jude owens’ story is a testament to the boundless potential within every individual, proving that age is no barrier to achieving extraordinary feats.
