A group of 20 Cuban rafters was intercepted near the Florida Keys when they were trying to reach freedom lands after fleeing the communist island.

The US authorities reported on this discovery of migrants, stating that they arrived in Florida waters in a rustic, homemade boat.

“Earlier today, U.S. Border Patrol agents and @keyssheriff partners responded to a migrant landing in the Florida Keys and encountered 20 Cuban migrants who arrived on a homemade boat,” explained Chief Samuel Briggs II. Interim of the United States Border Patrol in the Miami sector through the social network X.

Likewise, in the report, the US border authorities published a photo of the boat on which the Cuban rafters were traveling.

It is important to mention that illegal departures by sea continue to be a constant in Cuba, because Cubans prefer to risk their lives to seek a better future than to continue living in the misery to which the Castro dictatorship subjects them.

Recently, a video went viral on social media showing the moment when a group of Cuban rafters was rescued by a cruise ship.

The Antilleans, who were fleeing hunger and misery on the island, were desperate at sea in the weak raft from which they were drawing water.

In this sense, the Coast Guard was notified about the situation that the Cubans were going through, so a ship joined in to rescue the group.
