The concert “Faschings-Lustbaren” opens the carnival and ball season on November 9th with musical samples from old and new times, combined with entertaining anecdotes from the Mozarts’ correspondence.

The entire family danced all night long during the carnival season, which their correspondence provides vivid information about. Actor Stefan Wilkening reads from these family letters, which shed light on the carnival customs of the time in Salzburg, Vienna, Paris, Milan and Venice. The Oberton String Octet accompanies, among other things, Mozart’s overture from “Le nozze di Figaro” and “A Musical Fun” as well as tangos by Piazzolla.
They are among the most versatile up-and-coming musicians of their generation: the Salzburg violinist Benjamin Herzl, who is praised by critics for his “virtuosic perfection” and his “deep and high musicality”, and who was described by Classica magazine as a “pianist with a magnetic presence” praised Frenchman Ingmar Lazar. In addition to Mozart’s Violin Sonata KV 378, the two artists place works by Debussy and Franck, which are considered the most important French violin sonatas de fin de siècle, at the center of their duo program – to be heard on November 23rd.
