Saint-Quay-Portrieux, France – Get ready for a spectacular display of vintage and prestige motorcycles! The municipality of Saint-Quay-Portrieux in Côtes-d’Armor is hosting “The motorcycle makes its show” on Saturday, July 26. This free event, held on the Casino esplanade, promises a day filled with elegance competitions and parades featuring Breton motorcycles over 30 years old, alongside sports and prestige models.

  • Over 2,000 motorcycles are expected at the event.
  • An elegance competition will judge motorcycles on three criteria: overall presentation, condition, and restoration quality.
  • The event aims to be intergenerational, featuring activities for all ages.
  • The Côtes-d’Armor gendarmerie and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest are among the organizations attending.

This highly anticipated event is the result of a year of meticulous preparation by the Armor old vehicles (AVA) association. Mayor Thierry Simelière expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The technical services have prepared the event since last year and we are ready. I think we can easily reach 3,000 visitors.” The picturesque setting of Saint-Quay-Portrieux is expected to draw crowds of both enthusiasts and curious onlookers.

“The motorcycle makes its show” will feature a dedicated village with about a dozen stands from institutional and private partners. Attendees can expect to see motorcycles alongside representatives from the Côtes-d’Armor gendarmerie and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest.

Starting at 10 a.m., the public can begin admiring an exhibition of approximately forty vintage and prestige motorcycles in the parking area near The seawater pool. The main attraction, the elegance competition, kicks off at 2:30 p.m. next to the Casino.

Judging the Machines

A panel of five judges will evaluate the participating motorcycles and their riders. The judging criteria include the overall presentation, which takes into account rider attire, the motorcycle’s condition, and the quality of its restoration. Three prizes and a cup will be awarded across various categories, with additional gifts provided by local merchants.

A Celebration for All Ages

The event is designed to foster an intergenerational spirit, with ADN Racing, a piloting school, present to share motorcycle values with participants of all ages. Younger attendees will have their own dedicated inflatable circuit. Food trucks will be on site to offer refreshments throughout the day.

“The motorcycle makes its show” runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, at the Casino esplanade, with free entry for all.
