India Ranks 80th in Most Powerful Passports of 2023

The international research firm Henley & Partners has released the most powerful passports of 2023, with India ranking 80th on the world’s most powerful passport index (Henley Passport Index). According to the ranking, Indian citizens can travel to 62 countries without a visa.

Leading the global ranking are France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain, whose citizens can freely travel to over 194 countries without any visa issues. On the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan holds the bottom spot with only 28 countries allowing visa-free entry for its passport holders, followed by Syria with 29 countries, Iraq with 31 countries, and Pakistan with 34 countries.

In more positive news for Indian travelers, the Malaysian government has granted them visa-free access to 62 countries, including Oman and Qatar. According to the Henley Passport Index 2024, Indian passport holders can enjoy visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival facilities in these countries.

Countries where Indians can visit without obtaining a visa beforehand include Angola, Barbados, Bhutan, Bolivia, and many others. This latest ranking provides more opportunities for Indian travelers to explore the world without the hassle of visa applications.

While India’s ranking may not be at the top, it still provides ample opportunities for its citizens to explore and travel the world. Additionally, Finland ranks second in the index, with Finnish passport holders being granted visa-free access to 193 countries. The United States ranks seventh on the Henley Passport Index, with its citizens enjoying visa-free travel to 188 countries.
