White House Spokesperson Criticizes Israeli Finance Minister over Hostage Deal Narrative
US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby recently criticized Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for creating a misleading narrative surrounding a proposed deal to free hostages held by the Hamas terrorist group. Kirby expressed concern that Smotrich’s claims could endanger both Israelis and Americans.
During a White House briefing on Saturday night, Kirby stated that the deal is not made lightly and that Smotrich’s positions are already jeopardizing lives. He emphasized that President Biden remains committed to saving lives and enhancing Israel’s security.
Kirby also addressed Smotrich’s accusation that the deal amounts to a “surrender agreement,” calling such claims “scandalous and baseless.” He expressed disapproval of those making such statements and urged them to reconsider.
The UN responded to Smotrich’s earlier statement regarding the deal, as reported by the “Cursor” news outlet.
