Several Arab states have told Israel that they are not prepared to play any peacekeeping role in post-war Gaza, Army Radio reported, citing sources familiar with the discussions.

The United Arab Emirates has told Israel it is ready to send military forces to help with peacekeeping efforts in the Gaza Strip after Hamas is removed from power, but only on the condition that the Palestinian Authority is restored as the ruling authority in the enclave, according to the report.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly vowed not to allow the Palestinian Authority, led by Mahmoud Abbas, to take over the Strip.

Last month, the United Arab Emirates already expressed its readiness to provide its troops for a multinational “stabilization” mission in the Gaza Strip, but under certain conditions.

Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE’s special envoy to the Foreign Ministry, said the UAE could send a force if the US led the mission and supported steps to establish a Palestinian state. “The UAE could consider participating in the stabilization force along with Arab and international partners,” Nusseibeh said, adding that it would do so “only at the invitation of a reformed PA or a PA led by an empowered prime minister.” Nusseibeh stressed that “the United States must play a leading role in this effort for it to succeed.”

Earlier, Cursor wrote that Israel offered to evacuate Gaza residents to Egypt.
