Argentine law enforcement has uncovered a terrorist cell that was plotting attacks on the Jewish community in Mendoza. The investigation began after the group sent threats to a Jewish journalist.
The terrorist cell that was discovered has links to a radical Islamic group, according to Argentine Security Minister Patricia Bullrich. Seven people were arrested and police seized weapons, knives and electronic devices during eight searches.
The minister said the organisation had posted hateful material, attack plans and content from terrorist groups such as the Islamic State and the Taliban online.
“We are going to get rid of every single one of these criminals who are trying to terrorize the citizens of Argentina. They will pay,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Israel Security Service (Shabaq), together with the Southern District Police, identified a group of Negev residents suspected of preparing terrorist attacks on Israeli territory. Following an investigation, the Southern District Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against members of the group.
Earlier, the Cursor reported that security forces intercepted a group of armed terrorists on the highway between Einav and Shavei Shomron. During the operation, it was discovered that they were preparing to carry out a terrorist attack. Three terrorists armed with Karlo-type machine guns were arrested in a car near Shavei Shomron.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the Shin Bet and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), a major terrorist attack was prevented. Reinforced army forces were deployed in the area of the incident.
