Ukrainian intelligence reported on the special operation “Ocheret”, during which a Russian serviceman defected to Ukraine after the explosion of a headquarters with officers.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), the Russian, known by the call sign “Silver”, was an FPV pilot who decided to contact the fighters of the Freedom of Russia Legion. The reason for his decision was the systematic crimes committed by the command, including extrajudicial executions, beatings and bribery in his unit.
During the cooperation with the Ukrainian side, “Silver” transmitted important data on the location, number and intentions of Russian troops in one of the directions. Then he carried out an attack on the headquarters, where his commander and other officers were located. “Silver” threw a grenade into the ventilation hole, which led directly to the basement, where the soldiers were sleeping at that time.
According to intelligence, there were about 15 people in the room, and “Silver” carefully prepared his operation, throwing grenades so that they would explode in close proximity to the commander. After successfully carrying out the attack, the soldier managed to escape, following a pre-planned route, and crossed into territory controlled by Ukraine.
He is currently a recruit for the Freedom of Russia Legion.
