Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is not yet completely confident of winning the 2024 US elections, but he has already started thinking about personnel. The politician wants to invite billionaire and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk to his cabinet or offer him an advisory role in the White House.

Reuters reports this.

The politician praised Musk’s contribution to technology, especially in the field of electric vehicles and space exploration. He noted that Musk could take a significant position in his government or become an adviser if the entrepreneur himself expressed a desire to accept this offer.

Notably, Trump said he would consider eliminating a $7,500 tax credit for some new electric vehicles. That could hurt the business of Tesla, which sells the cars. It’s worth noting that the Republican candidate has generally taken a hard line against electric vehicles. He criticizes the vehicles’ need to be recharged for long trips and calls for tariffs on cars made in Mexico, arguing that it hurts the U.S. auto industry.

Nevertheless, Donald Trump has a positive attitude towards Elon Musk – he considers him a “great economist” and is confident that the billionaire technocrat’s experience will be useful in “restraining government spending.”

It is worth noting that Elon Musk himself expressed his desire to take on one of the positions in the Trump administration if he becomes president on the social network X. The billionaire previously worked on the White House business advisory groups during Trump’s presidency, but resigned in 2017 after disagreeing with the politician’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement.

Earlier, Cursor reported that Donald Trump believes that if he were the US president in 2023, Hamas would not have attacked Israel.
