Anna Laffin from the UK faced an unfortunate situation when her $9,000 family holiday was put in jeopardy by a mistake by TUI. According to The Mirror, the incident occurred at check-in before a flight to Morocco, when an airline employee misinterpreted the rules and refused Anna boarding, claiming that her passport, issued in May 2014, was no longer valid.

Despite Laffin’s explanation that the document was valid for another six months, the employee insisted, forcing the British woman to watch in tears as her family – husband Mark Elliott, his 18-year-old daughter Errin, and Anna’s 11-year-old daughter Ariana – boarded the plane without her. “It was humiliating because it happened in front of everyone boarding the flight,” Anna said.

The next day, Anna contacted TUI customer service, where she was told that the denied boarding had been a mistake. The airline apologised to the customer, reimbursed her taxi and hotel costs, and rebooked her on her next flight to Morocco. However, Laffin says the stress of the situation was so great that she felt exhausted when she finally reached her destination.

Earlier, Kursor wrote that the Ministry of Transport announced the cancellation of several routes.
