Militants who seized a prison colony in Russia’s Volgograd region today say they allowed a wounded hostage to be taken away, but no one came to pick him up.

NEXTA reports this.

The terrorists, who are believed to be affiliated with ISIS, also said that the facility’s management was harassing Muslim prisoners. “They tortured Muslims here. They took away some people’s books, rugs, shaved some. They took away what is rightfully ours,” they said.

Meanwhile, Russian media outlets are reporting that two people have been confirmed dead as a result of the takeover of IK 19 – the squad leader and the chief of the operational unit. Photos of the alleged terrorists suspected of taking over IK 19 have also appeared in public groups.

Russian media write that the attackers allegedly demand a helicopter and $2 million. At the same time, video footage filmed by the hostages appears on social networks. They forced the hostages to record an appeal to the President of Russia. The head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin himself said that he was informed about the situation with the seizure of the colony and assured that measures would be taken, which ones – he did not specify.

This is the second case of a colony being seized in the Russian Federation in a month. Let us recall that a similar incident occurred in Russia on June 16. According to Russians, several people who also called themselves ISIS members seized a penal colony in Rostov. As a result of the assault, five attackers were killed and another was wounded in the head.

Today, the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation announced that terrorists seized Colony No. 19 during a meeting of the disciplinary commission. They are allegedly trying to free the hostages. Special forces have arrived at the scene, and security forces are preparing to storm the prison. Russian media outlets note that the attackers allegedly call themselves members of the terrorist group “Islamic State” (ISIS).
