Lebanese media have revealed new details about the ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas. According to Al-Akhbar newspaper, lengthy meetings were held in Cairo yesterday to discuss possible concessions from Israel.
Channel 12 writes that the mediators believed that these concessions could lead to the Hamas terrorists agreeing to a deal, but the negotiations ended without reaching an agreement.
The Israeli delegation reportedly rejected the mediators’ proposals, saying it did not have sufficient decision-making authority and that final steps should be agreed upon with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the sources, the current efforts are focused on returning to the previous agreement, which Hamas had already agreed to with minor modifications. In particular, a gradual rather than a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip is under discussion.
Among the proposed concessions are a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Philadelphi axis and a promise not to carry out construction work along this corridor. Also under consideration is the creation of a “land corridor” that would allow the IDF to move and arrive quickly in the area.
Earlier, Cursor reported on a preemptive strike against Hezbollah.
According to IDF estimates, Hezbollah intended to launch between 500 and 600 rockets towards northern Israel.
