Israel has agreed to pay Moldova a significant sum in compensation for services rendered in connection with ensuring the safety of Breslov Hasidim during their pilgrimage to Uman last year.
“IsraelInfo” writes about this.
The Israeli Finance Ministry and Foreign Ministry have found budget funds to pay off a debt of NIS 700,000 that was accumulated due to additional security measures at the Moldovan airport during the Rosh Hashanah holiday last year. The payment was made by the Finance Ministry ahead of the upcoming holiday to ensure that Moldova will again allow pilgrims to cross its territory.
The Chief Rabbi of Moldova, Rabbi Pinchas Salzman, has written to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling on him to also provide budget funding for security measures for the current year. This issue has become especially relevant given that yesterday, after almost a year-long break in communication, Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation. The meeting was officially designated as a discussion of the situation in the region, but the main topic was the upcoming pilgrimage season and the difficulties associated with it.
Meanwhile, the US administration has issued a travel warning to its citizens about Uman ahead of the Tishrei holidays, citing the unstable security situation in the region. Despite this, representatives of the Israeli coalition continue to put pressure on Netanyahu, urging him to resolve issues related to ensuring the safety of pilgrims in Uman this year.
Earlier, Cursor reported that Hasidim almost died during a pilgrimage to Shechem.
Palestinian Arabs noticed that the Hasid was wandering around the Balata camp and attacked him, and then the entire group of pilgrims.
