US President Joe Biden commented on the negotiations between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas.
He expressed doubt that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was doing enough to achieve this goal.
“We are very close to a hostage deal, and I don’t think Netanyahu is doing enough,” the American leader said.
Earlier, the White House emphasized that the United States is actively working on this issue and on Monday it plans to hold a meeting with the American negotiating team that is promoting a deal between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas.
The meeting, which also includes Vice President Kamala Harris, was included in Biden’s updated schedule following the tragic incident in which six hostages, including American Hersh Goldberg-Paulin, were killed by Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip. The White House said the president and vice president will discuss with negotiators ongoing efforts to secure the release of the remaining hostages. The U.S., along with mediators from Egypt and Qatar, has spent months trying to broker a hostage exchange and a cease-fire in Gaza.
In addition, Cursor reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sharply criticized the general strike organized by the Histadrut trade union, calling it a “shameful demonstration” of support for Hamas and its leader Yahya Sinwar. This statement was made during a weekly cabinet meeting.
