FIFA has rejected a request from the Palestinian Football Association to exclude Israeli teams from all international tournaments over the Gaza conflict.
This was reported by “Today in Israel”.
However, despite this decision, the International Football Federation expressed its readiness to return to this issue in October in order to take into account all the circumstances and possible changes in the situation.
Earlier, Cursor wrote that the Palestinian Football Association appealed to FIFA, making loud accusations against Israel.
Recall that on December 28, after more than 80 days of fighting that had caused significant casualties and destruction in Gaza, the leaders of the Palestinian Football Association asked FIFA, the International Olympic Committee and other organizations to investigate Israel for what they believed to be crimes committed. They claimed that at least 1,000 athletes were among those killed or missing in Gaza.
In their letter, the Palestinian Arabs outlined their grievances, accusing Israel of turning Gaza’s oldest stadium, El-Yarmouk, into a detention center and interrogation site, where they claimed innocent people were being taken. Notably, they were careful not to mention the terrorist organization Hamas in the letter. The association also called for sanctions against Israeli sports.
