The Syrian Foreign Ministry said Israel’s overnight strikes on Hama could escalate tensions in the region with unpredictable consequences.

The Mezaif Research Center is considered part of the broader Syrian Scientific Research Center (SSRC), which is responsible for developing strategic weapons in Syria, including ballistic missiles and chemical weapons.
According to Western and Israeli sources, it is at this center that work is being carried out on the creation of modern missile systems and long-range missiles, making it an important element of the Syrian military infrastructure.
The Israeli military has repeatedly attacked the facility, citing the center’s activities as a threat to its national security. The Mezaif center is also linked to Syria’s cooperation with Iran and Hezbollah, raising suspicions that it is involved in developing strategic weapons that could be dangerous to Israel.
