Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction and resentment towards Russian President Vladimir Putin for his unexpected support of Kamala Harris for the US presidency. During a rally in Wisconsin, Trump noted that Putin’s words left him feeling disappointed and even insulted. He expressed surprise that the Russian leader decided to support Harris, despite their difficult relationship.
“I was very offended by Putin’s support for Kamala Harris. No other US president has been as tough on Russia as I have, and Putin knows that better than anyone,” Trump said.
Trump, speculating about Putin’s motives, suggested that it may have been done with some ulterior motive, or as he put it, “with a smirk.” But Trump stressed that he wasn’t going to be too upset about it, even though he didn’t fully understand why Putin made the choice.
In addition, Trump recalled that during his presidency he pursued the toughest policy towards Russia of all American presidents, and Putin understands this better than anyone.
Putin’s support for Kamala Harris came at the Eastern Economic Forum, where the Russian leader said he considered her a suitable candidate for the post of US president.
Previously, Putin had favored the current president, Joe Biden, but after Biden withdrew from the election race, he changed his allegiances.
The US presidential election is on November 5, and Kamala Harris has officially entered the race after Biden, at the urging of his allies, decided not to run. Harris has already raised a significant $200 million for her campaign in the first week, and according to Bloomberg, she is ahead of Donald Trump in four key states.
