Jordan’s Interior Ministry has condemned the terrorist attack at the Allenby checkpoint that killed three Israeli citizens.
This was reported by the Telegram channel “Alexey Zheleznov”.
In a statement released 14 hours after the incident, Jordanian authorities reiterated their strong stance against violence and attacks on civilians, regardless of the cause.
While the ministry condemned the attack, much of the statement was devoted to supporting the two-state solution and criticizing Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip and Judea and Samaria. In addition to condemning the attack, Jordan called for an end to the causes that lead to the escalation of violence against civilians.
Following an investigation by the Jordanian side, the attack was classified as a lone wolf act.
Earlier, Cursor wrote that the media reported new details of the investigation into the terrorist attack at the Allenby checkpoint.
A joint investigation into the Allenby attack by Jordan and Israel has found that the terrorist, a Jordanian citizen, managed to pass security checks on the Israeli side. However, the gun used in the attack was not found. Investigators believe that the gunman hid the weapon under the driver’s seat and used it during the security check, opening fire on Israeli guards at close range.
The guards manning the checkpoint were unarmed and unable to fight back. The terrorist was killed on the spot, but the incident exposed serious vulnerabilities in border security. The intelligence official said that these shortcomings could be addressed quickly, but the main problem was the smuggling of weapons and explosives across the Jordanian border into Judea and Samaria, despite the IDF’s efforts to tighten security.
The Allenby checkpoint remains closed while IDF forces continue to search the area for possible accomplices and check whether the vehicle was booby-trapped. Several Palestinians and Jordanian drivers have been detained for questioning, and the drivers who were at the checkpoint at the time of the attack have undergone detailed checks.
