Anders Nilsen, a military analyst at the Royal Danish Defence College, has published a new video in which he explains in detail why NATO is not responding to Russian drones violating the Alliance’s airspace.

The analyst’s main points are as follows:

  • In recent months, European countries have seen a number of strange incidents: arson, sabotage, cyber attacks, assassinations and assassinations. In addition, Russian drones have increasingly crossed the borders of NATO countries such as Poland, Latvia and Romania. However, the reaction of Western governments remains minimal. An example is the incident when Romania allowed the Shahed drone to cross its airspace and attack Ukraine, despite the possibility of its interception.
  • According to Nielsen, the lack of reaction is part of a deliberate NATO policy. Russia is trying to achieve a media effect by forcing Western countries to talk about these incidents in order to create tension and divert resources from helping Ukraine.
  • Ignoring these violations helps NATO neutralize Russia’s efforts to sow fear and divide Europe. So far, this strategy has worked, as there has been no demand among European countries to reduce aid to Ukraine in favor of their own security. However, if Russia intensifies its attacks, this strategy may cease to be effective.

Earlier, “Kursor” reported that NATO could let Ukraine down in winter. Thus, the alliance should seriously consider the issue of extending and increasing military aid to Ukraine before the long winter months begin, so as not to disappoint Kyiv and not damage its reputation.
