Andrew McCabe, who served as deputy director of the FBI during Trump’s presidency and was fired in 2018, called the former president an agent of the Russian Federation, since his statements and actions raise many questions.
He said this in an interview with the One Decision podcast.
McCabe said that while he is not sure that Trump is a “conscious agent” in the full sense of the word, Trump has given reasons to doubt his position on Russia, including phone calls, personal meetings and public comments about the Russian leader.
McCabe also expressed doubt about Trump’s sincerity in supporting Ukraine and NATO against Russian aggression. He emphasized that such admiration for Putin was not seen by other American presidents, regardless of their party affiliation, and this raises concerns.
McCabe said possible economic or business interests could explain Trump’s attitude toward Russia, although there is no evidence to support this. McCabe expressed concern that Trump could become president again given the possibility of Russia’s interference in American affairs. He noted that Russia’s efforts to sow chaos in the U.S. political system have been going on for years and are part of Russia’s strategy.
McCabe, by the way, was among the FBI’s top brass and even served as acting director during the investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 election and Trump’s ties to the Kremlin. Trump fired him in March 2018, two days before his retirement. McCabe was later charged with lying and disclosing classified information, but the investigation was closed in 2020.
By the way, “Kursor” wrote about how a representative of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the return to their homeland of 45 citizens of the country who had fraudulently ended up in the Russian army, participated in the war against Ukraine, but were already dismissed at the request of the Indian side.
