Adviser to the Russian presidential administration Sergei Karaganov called for a review of Russia’s nuclear deterrence policy and the use of nuclear weapons to strike Ukrainian troops, as well as to attack Berlin with missiles. This is reported by Russian media.
According to him, Russia must clearly state that it has the right to respond with a nuclear strike to any massive attacks on its territory. Karaganov emphasized that similar measures should also be applied in the event of attempts to seize Russian territory.
“The time has come to declare that we have the right to respond to any massive attacks on our territory with a nuclear strike. This also applies to any seizure of our territory,” he said.
He noted that the current doctrine on the use of nuclear weapons is outdated and needs to be revised, since it practically excludes the use of these weapons. The adviser called this policy “immoral” and insisted on the need to revise it. In his opinion, Russia is obliged to activate the nuclear factor in world politics and convince its opponents of its readiness to use these weapons in the event of threats to its security.
Karaganov also said that the war in Ukraine is being waged to destroy Russia, and suggested considering a conventional missile strike on Berlin. As an example, he suggested attacking the Reichstag in the event of repeated drone strikes on the Kremlin.
Meanwhile, as journalists report, Karaganov himself owns real estate in Germany and Italy. The publication “BILD” previously wrote that he and his wife own an apartment in the Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg, which they rent out, receiving a monthly income of 850 euros. In 2023, having learned about possible sanctions against him, Karaganov tried to transfer his share of the apartment to his wife, but this was unsuccessful – the transaction was declared invalid by the German authorities.
In addition, the adviser has a two-story apartment in Venice, which he can no longer use due to the sanctions imposed on him. Karaganov is known for his harsh statements in the past: in 2016, he already called for an attack on NATO countries, and in 2023, he advocated a preemptive nuclear strike on Europe.
Earlier, “Cursor” reported that Ukraine used the Kremlin’s own “weapon” against it.
Ukraine has come up with a way to increase pressure on Putin.
