At the request of the newspaper Israel Hayom, artificial intelligence Claude suggested seven countries where you can spend a vacation at an affordable price without breaking the bank.
1. Georgia
Average cost of living per day: about 150 shekels
Georgia has become a popular destination among Israelis and offers excellent value for money. Breathtaking scenery, delicious food and warm hospitality make it attractive to budget travelers. You can enjoy a traditional meal with local wine for around 30-40 shekels, while a hostel or homestay will cost you around 40-60 shekels per night.
2. Portugal
Average daily expenses: about 190 shekels
Portugal is ideal for exploring Western Europe on a budget. Thanks to the country’s economic situation, you can enjoy stunning beaches, scenic hiking trails, and great wine regions at prices that are competitive compared to other Eurozone countries. A shared hostel room can cost around NIS 70 per night, while a decent meal can cost as little as NIS 60.
3. Argentina
Average daily expenses: about 190 shekels
High inflation has made Argentina a budget traveler’s dream. In El Chalten, you can enjoy a juicy steak and a bottle of Malbec for under NIS 95. A guided tour of Patagonia can cost around NIS 1,700, but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that’s still affordable.
4. Vietnam
Average daily expenses: about 230 shekels
Vietnam is a budget traveler’s paradise, offering rich cultural experiences and diverse landscapes. You can sample soft and delicious banh mi in Ho Chi Minh City or take a tour of Ha Long Bay. Hostels cost just a few shekels a day, and delicious street food will set you back around 4 shekels.
5. Indonesia
Average daily expenses: about 230 NIS
Indonesia is home to 17,000 islands, stunning beaches, volcanoes and amazing wildlife. Local food and comfortable hostel accommodation can be found for around 95-115 shekels per day. Don’t miss the Sacred Monkey Forest and Borobudur Temple.
6. South Africa
Average cost: about 270 shekels per day
While the flight to Cape Town may be expensive, once you get there you will be surprised by the low costs. A fantastic dinner for two will cost you less than 170 shekels. You will be able to enjoy beautiful beaches, hike Table Mountain and see amazing wildlife in the Kruger National Park.
7. Costa Rica
Average cost per day: about 440 shekels
Although Costa Rica is a bit more expensive than other options, it still offers an amazing vacation at reasonable prices. You can explore lush rainforests and volcanoes on both coasts of this small country. Staying in hostels and cooking your own meals will help you reduce your daily expenses to around 190 shekels.
In all of these places, as elsewhere, you can save money by using public transportation, eating at local restaurants rather than big chains, and taking free tours.
