A terrifying incident has occurred on a Delta Airlines flight. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing after a pressure system malfunction injured at least ten passengers. Panic broke out on board. One passenger said: “I felt an explosion above my ear. I reached back and suddenly my hand was covered in blood.”
The incident occurred on Delta Flight 1203, which was en route from Salt Lake City to Portland. The Boeing 737-900 was forced to return to the airport after a breakdown, causing chaos on board.
At least ten passengers were injured, bleeding from their faces, noses and ears. Passengers described their ordeal, with many reporting severe ear pain, headaches and intense pressure. Jackie Fraser, one of the passengers, shared her terrifying experience with local media: “I felt an explosion in my ear. I reached back and suddenly my hand was covered in blood. I still feel like I’m talking underwater.”
Another passenger, Karin Allen, said she saw “passengers covered in blood.” The passenger sitting behind her was bleeding heavily from his nose and ears and was treated by flight attendants. Medical crews treated injured passengers after landing, with many being rushed to hospital.
Delta issued a statement apologizing: “We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience they experienced during their flight. The crew followed all necessary procedures to return to the airport, where our ground crews provided emergency care to the passengers. A medical team met the flight at the gate and identified ten people who needed evaluation or treatment.”
The airline added that “Delta offered to pay for the transportation of these passengers to medical facilities. Delta technicians successfully corrected the pressure issue. The aircraft was removed from service on September 15 and returned to service on September 16.”
