According to media reports, Hezbollah headquarters has decided on the appointment of new operational commanders after the elimination of 14 militants led by Ibrahim Aqil, who headed the group’s operational department.

US Announces Reward for Talal Hamia

Hamia replaced Mustafa Badr al-Din as Hezbollah’s military leader. Along with Rafik Hariri, Hamia was accused of carrying out the 1992 Buenos Aires bombings.

The U.S. Rewards for Justice program has announced a reward of up to $7 million for information on Talal Hamieh, also known as Ismat Talal Hamieh, who heads Hezbollah’s External Security Organization, which is responsible for planning and executing terrorist attacks outside Lebanon, primarily targeting Israelis and Americans.

Hamieh was designated a global terrorist on September 13, 2012, by the U.S. Department of the Treasury under Executive Order 13224 for his activities in support of Hezbollah in the Middle East and elsewhere. As a result of the sanctions, all of Hamieh’s property under U.S. jurisdiction was blocked and Americans were prohibited from engaging in any transactions with him. In addition, his activities in providing material support to Hezbollah, which the U.S. has designated as a foreign terrorist organization, are considered a crime.

The reward for information is part of efforts to combat international terrorism and is aimed at weakening Hezbollah’s global networks that operate outside Lebanon.
