US President Joe Biden addressed the annual session of the UN General Assembly on September 24, where he discussed the ongoing conflicts in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

Biden began his speech by focusing on Israel’s war with Hamas, saying “the world must not forget the atrocities of October 7.” He called for an agreement that would end the fighting and ensure the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas terrorists. The president stressed that “the hostages and civilians in Gaza are living in hell,” adding that “Gaza must be freed from Hamas.”

Biden also spoke in favor of creating a Palestinian state, noting that this should be part of the solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This approach reflects the US administration’s strategy to establish “two states for two peoples.”

Biden also addressed the situation in Lebanon, saying a diplomatic resolution to the conflict was “still possible” despite the current escalation. He expressed the view that all-out war “is in no one’s interest.”

Regarding Iran, the president said it was necessary to “ensure that it never has nuclear weapons.”

In closing, Biden delivered a farewell message to the leaders, reminding them that there are more important things than holding on to power. He noted that he had decided not to run for reelection this year, saying, “It has been the honor of my life to serve as president, but I love my country even more.” He emphasized the importance of serving the people and urged his colleagues to remember that “we are here to serve the people.”

The annual session of the UN General Assembly began on September 24 and will continue until early next week. The first speaker was UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who expressed concern about the situation in Lebanon and Gaza, warning that “Lebanon is on the brink of an abyss.”

Earlier, Cursor reported that Biden made the UN General Assembly laugh with his words about his age.
