Addis Ababa – ‍ Moroccan Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali was celebrated‍ by the ⁢African ‍Union (AU)⁢ after his gold⁢ medal in​ the 3000m⁣ steeplechase at the ⁤Paris 2024 ​Olympic Games.

In a message on [Date], the⁢ AU welcomed the performance ⁢of⁤ the Moroccan star of world athletics who became ⁤the first ‌athlete ⁣to retain his Olympic title⁣ since the Finn Volmari Iso-Hollo, who achieved it at the 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games.

Now a double Olympic⁣ and ‍reigning world champion, El Bakkali‌ won⁣ the 3000m steeplechase final at the Stade de France on Wednesday with a time of 08:06.
