The French capital is hosting the Summer Olympics for the third time. When the last competition was held on the Seine in 1924, it was a much smaller event. Almost every country in the world is now involved in one of the many sports Olympic Games representation. The motto of the 2024 Olympic Games is “Wide Open Games” and should according to the organizer stand for inclusion, equality and responsibility.

The 2024 Olympic Games will begin with the opening ceremony on 26 July. Unofficially, however, the first Olympic competitions take place earlier. The handball, rugby and football competitions started on 24th July. By the end of the Summer Games on August 11, 329 gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in 32 disciplines. The organizers have put together a special feature: each coin has a piece of the Eiffel Tower in the heart. The winners can take home a piece of the iconic Parisian town.
