New Jersey Transportation Plans Open for Public Comment Through July & August 2025
The future of transportation in New Jersey is now open for public input, as the state’s three Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) – the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO), and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) – initiate public comment periods for the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). These processes allow residents to weigh in on regional transportation plans, the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and conformity determinations.
Statewide Coverage & Collaborative Review
New Jersey is fully encompassed by these three MPOs, and the STIP integrates their individual TIPs without alteration. According to state officials, the public participation process is a cornerstone of responsible infrastructure development. Copies of the STIP will be available at each MPO’s public meetings, with representatives from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and NJ TRANSIT on hand to address public concerns.
How to Submit Public Comments
All public comments regarding the STIP must be submitted through the relevant MPO, based on residency. The comment period for both the TIPs and the STIP is 30 days. MPOs will collect these comments on behalf of the state, and responses will be developed collaboratively.
