by times news cr

Mr. Motsepe expressed his joy at seeing Morocco present its candidacy for the 2030 World Cup, in a statement to MAP on the sidelines of the CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award-2022 ceremony, awarded to HM King Mohammed VI and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

On behalf of the 54 African countries, the President expressed his gratitude to HM the King for his role in the development of football in Morocco, which has contributed greatly to the influence of this sporting discipline beyond the Kingdom.

For Mr Motsepe, the award received by HM the King is also a recognition for many heads of state and government who work together for the development of football on the African continent.

HM King Mohammed VI announced Morocco’s joint bid, with Spain and Portugal, to host the 2030 World Cup, in a message on the occasion of the presentation of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Excellence Award for the year 2022 (CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award-2022).

This joint candidacy, unprecedented in the history of football, will be that of the junction between Africa and Europe, between the north and the south of the Mediterranean, and between the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds, noted the Sovereign.

The Sovereign also specified that this candidacy will be one of gathering around the best of both sides, and the demonstration of an alliance of genius, creativity, experience and means.
