After the clear support of UEFA, it is CAF which has just unanimously appropriated the tripartite candidacy. For the President of the Pan-African Confederation, Morocco’s candidacy is that of Africa.

According to a statement from CAF published on its website, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe declared that “the unanimous decision taken by the Executive Committee of CAF, during its meeting on Wednesday 5 April , to support Morocco’s bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup means that Morocco’s bid is now that of the African continent”.

“We are now focused on delivering a new FIFA World Cup in Africa and are committed to working with all national football associations and confederations to achieve this,” he added.

The press release recalls that the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football has unanimously decided, in the name of African football, to support Morocco’s bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

This means that while waiting for other equally clear support, in particular from the Arab Football Union (UAFA), the common candidacy continues to garner votes.
