This visit, the first since the official submission of Morocco’s joint candidacy, is a decisive moment in FIFA’s decision-making process.
Inspectors will look into every detail, analyzing proposed stadiums, transport infrastructure, accommodation capacities, security plans and overall event management.
The objective is to demonstrate the capacity of Morocco, and more particularly of Fez, to organize an event of such scale.

Beyond sports infrastructure, the FIFA delegation will also examine the hotel capacity of Fez. The city intends to highlight a diversified and quality offer, in particular thanks to its 5 and 4 star hotels. The objective is to reach more than 7,600 classified hotel rooms by 2028, an essential capacity to respond to the massive influx of visitors expected if the World Cup is organized.
This investment program includes the construction of new hotels and the renovation of existing establishments, thus ensuring international standards.
The integration of student residences into the accommodation offer also contributes to optimizing the city’s reception capacity.
Air connectivity is a crucial element for the success of Fez’s candidacy. Fès-Saiss airport, which benefits from an expansion project thanks to an investment of 500 million dirhams, aims to increase its reception capacity from 3 to 5 million passengers per year by December 2028. This This project will accommodate up to 19,000 passengers per day.
The extension includes the addition of 100 aircraft parking spaces, which will require the development of 15 hectares of land.
