In a statement to MAP, Mr. Chlih indicated that this trilateral candidacy offers the continent and its youth an unprecedented opportunity to attend an exceptional World Cup due to Morocco’s geographical location and its ability to organize international events and thus honor Africa and fans avid for football.
The former coach of Moroccan and foreign clubs stressed that this candidacy is also an explicit recognition of the successes of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, of its achievements, accomplishments and profound transformations that it has accomplished in various fields, notably football, considered one of the most developed aspects at the global, continental and regional level, and a clear proof that expresses the extent of the recognition by Europe and the international community of the capacities and of Morocco to meet this challenge.
He noted that this joint application has aroused great satisfaction in international sports circles, first and foremost in FIFA, as well as in decision-making circles in Spain and Portugal, given that this membership will bring more strength, efficiency and credibility to this common dossier.
He noted that Morocco’s decision to apply to host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal was dictated by the Kingdom’s expertise and experience in organizing major sports competitions, in addition to the significant sports and logistical infrastructure it has, which are necessary for the success of international sporting events.
Mr. Chlih added that the joint candidacy is an opportunity to confirm the sporting influence of the Kingdom with the results achieved at the continental and international levels, in particular after the historic and unprecedented feat of the Atlas Lions, qualified for the semi-finals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
