Subsequently, the production of the drug has been stopped and the central government has also ordered an inquiry into the matter.

A pharmaceutical company called Marian Biotech in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has manufactured a cough medicine under the name of Doc1 Max and exported it to various countries.

These drugs were also used in the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan.

In this case, the statement issued by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan states:

21 children from our country have tragically died after drinking the cough medicine manufactured and exported by Marion Biotech from India.

Then we put that cough medicine under investigation. At that time, it was confirmed that the toxic substance ‘ethylene glycol’ was mixed in it.

Subsequently, we have ordered to stop the sale of that cough medicine throughout our country. The drug, which was on sale in the shops, has been withdrawn.

This is stated in the report.

Regarding this, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia said:

A sample of the controversial drug has been sent to a laboratory in Chandigarh for testing.

Further action will be taken once the inspection report is received. Meanwhile, we are in constant contact with the Government of Uzbekistan. A detailed report has been sought on what happened there.

This is what he said.

Regarding this, Marion Biotech said, ‘We regret the incident. Seven employees from our company have been fired.

All pharmacies have been ordered to recall this medicine. The product under complaint has been discontinued.

tragedy

Last October, when it was reported that 70 children died in the African country of Gambia after consuming cough medicine manufactured by the Hyderabad-based company ‘Maiden’, now a similar tragedy has occurred.

Meanwhile, a conflict has arisen between the BJP and the Congress on this issue.

Congress senior leader Jairam Ramesh said, “Instead of boasting that India is the world’s pharmacy, strict action should be taken against the accused company.”

BJP senior leader Amit Malviya has responded to this and said, “Congress is continuously spreading hatred against the Prime Minister.

“It is a shameful thing for Congress leaders to ridicule the country and the industrial companies in the country for political reasons,” he said.
