Météo-France warned on Tuesday of the risk of “violent” or even “exceptional” thunderstorms occurring in the east of the country in the afternoon and evening, while twenty-two departments remain on orange alert. for thunderstorms but also the heat wave. “Violent thunderstorms, which may be exceptional” could develop “in the afternoon [mardi]particularly between northern Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes, southern Burgundy, Franche-Comté and as far as southern Alsace ”, indicates Météo-France at midday on its Twitter account.

Seventeen departments were on Tuesday morning concerned by orange vigilance, in a large eastern half of the country. A few hours later, Haute-Savoie, Cantal, Haute-Loire, Aveyron and Lozère were added. In these areas, thunderstorms could be accompanied by “very strong gusts of wind that can reach 100 to 130 km / h, very locally a little more” and “heavy hailstorms”, whose hailstones could reach several centimeters in diameter. .

Temperatures drop on Wednesday

Precipitation of 20 to 40 mm in less than 30 minutes or 1 hour and numerous lightnings are also expected.
