Twenty-two cartons, which contained 200 plastic packages with 225 kilograms and 880 grams of raw hydroponic cannabis (skunk), were found carefully stacked in the cargo area of a truck at the outer port of Igoumenitsa on Thursday evening, following a targeted inspection.
The narcotics in the truck, which had been unloaded from a ship coming from an Italian port, were identified by officers of the Regional Drug Prosecution Team (P.O.D.I.N.), the K9 Team and the Security Office of the Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa, following a tip from drug detection dog L.S.-EL.AKT. “Vlad”.
The 54-year-old driver of the truck was arrested, who is going to be brought before the District Attorney of Thesprotia. The Igoumenitsa Central Port Authority, which conducts the preliminary investigation, confiscated the quantities of narcotic substances and the truck with the occupant. The value of the confiscated narcotic substances is estimated up to the amount of 1,807,040 euros.
