CHENNAI: “Silos, each with a capacity of 1,110 crore kg, will be set up all over the country, including Tamil Nadu, to store food grains,” said Malik Rehan Pasha, General Manager of Food Corporation of India, Tamil Nadu.

The Food Corporation of India procures grains including paddy and wheat from farmers. The Food Corporation of India has set up silos with a capacity of 1,100 crore kg at 249 locations.

For this, private participation has been set up on a Design, Build, Operate and Handover basis. After the contract point is opened, it will be known how many silos will be set up in Tamil Nadu.
