The 23,274 new infections reported on Sunday are below the average of the past seven days (26,633), but are significantly more than the 22,075 of last Sunday. And while the number of hospital patients fell slightly to 2,368 people (minus 44), 197 people were cared for in intensive care units, seven more than the day before.
Among the federal states, Lower Austria was ahead with 5,058 new infections, followed by Upper Austria (4,579), Vienna (4,082) and Styria (3,146). 1,904 cases were reported in Tyrol, 1,694 in Carinthia, 1,109 in Vorarlberg, 1,063 in Salzburg and 639 in Burgenland.
The seven-day incidence was 2,087.1. As of Sunday, there were 274,258 active cases in Austria, down 1,616 from the day before. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 2,659,532 confirmed cases in Austria. 2,370,487 people have recovered, 24,865 within the past 24 hours. There have been 25 deaths since yesterday, the seven-day average was 29.4 per day. A total of 14,787 Austrians have died from or with Covid-19 so far.
A total of 478,876 tests were registered in the past 24 hours, of which 377,815 were meaningful PCR tests. Their positive rate was 6.2 percent.
4,571 vaccinations were carried out on Saturday. According to the data from the e-vaccination card, a total of 6,796,902 people received at least one vaccination. 6,243,927 people and thus 69.9 percent of Austrians have a valid vaccination.
