24,000 officers affected: computer chaos at the police in Lower Saxony | Regional

by time news

Hannover – There have been major software problems with the police in Lower Saxony for three days.

As BILD exclusively learned, the “Nivadis” software often does not work at all at the moment. Means: 24,000 employees who work in 374 police stations are affected. Including four highway police departments and a waterway police inspection with four waterway police stations.

As the?

The Nivadis software has been around since 2004. It digitally records everything, every investigation, every report, every process of robbery or car theft by the police. “Immediately on Wednesday after maintenance work, the problem suddenly arose. Our IT experts have been working at full speed since then,” says ZPD spokeswoman Ulrike Trumtrar. The authority rules out a hacker attack.

However, it is not a total failure, according to Trumtrar. “It cannot be calculated. Sometimes the software works for a colleague, sometimes not.”

An insider to BILD: “We now have to use our paperwork to ask colleagues whose software works to enter the things. Or we write everything again in the same way on a block.”

So much more work at the police stations! Trumtrar: “An emergency solution!” Telephone, Internet and the internal police messenger are not affected.

How long the computer chaos will last – Friday, 12 noon, crisis meeting.
