Coimbatore Smart City unveils 25-foot tall Thiruvalluvar statue near Kurichikulam Lake

Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu – As part of the Coimbatore Smart City project, a magnificent 25-foot tall statue of the renowned Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar has been installed near the scenic Kurichikulam Lake. The statue, standing at 15 feet wide and 20 feet long and weighing a substantial 2.5 tons, is a remarkable addition to the city’s landscape.

What makes this statue even more special is the fact that it has been crafted using 1,330 Tamil letters, in honor of Thiruvalluvar’s 1,330 Thirukkural verses. Each of the 247 letters has been meticulously repeated to bring the majestic sculpture to life.

The Coimbatore Smart City project has also undertaken the rehabilitation of seven ancient lakes in the area, including Kurichikulam, at a cost of Rs 50 crore. As part of the initiative, the lakefront has been beautified and adorned with sculptures reflecting Tamil culture and festivals, enhancing the overall ambiance of the surrounding area.

In a much-anticipated event, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin is set to inaugurate the striking Thiruvalluvar statue through a video ceremony today.
